Textiles Students Display Work in Brand New Show Homes

Miller Homes asked students to create an artwork and surface pattern design that would be suitable for a modern teenager’s bedroom for their new show home at West Park Darlington. Students were asked to think about Darlington and its history, as well as follow a colour palette of blues and navies.

Millers Homes commented that they were blown away by the level of skill and talent of QE students, and picked 3 winners and 1 runner up from the live brief as they couldn’t chose just 1 winner! All winners selected were from first year Textiles, they were: Lily Horvath and Esme Haves, Hope Whitten, Sophie Fletcher and Ellen Stewart (runner up).

We extend our thanks and appreciation to Miller Homes for giving our students the opportunity and experience. This will really enhance their portfolios and has given them an insight into working in this industry. Students were over the moon with being selected as winnings, Sophie Fletcher commented that she ‘didn’t expect her design to be chosen’, it was a drawing she’d completed and ‘didn’t realise its potential until hearing the feedback from the interior design team’.

The show home will be opening in September where student work will be on display in different rooms.
