The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) from QE have proudly represented the College at a dinner held by the Lord Lieutenant for County Durham. The dinner, the first to be held since before the COVID-19 pandemic, provided the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Snowdon, with the fantastic opportunity to show her support for the CCF and pay tribute to the work cadet forces carry out. The cadets were invited to line the route at Rockliffe Hall Hotel as a guard of honour where guests, including leading members of the community, businesses and other organisations, spoke to them about their experiences in the cadet force and how they have developed as young people. Mrs Snowdon then addressed her audience, highlighting the benefits that the cadets brings to its members and the wider community and praising the adults who give up their time to run cadet forces, before dinner was served.
Lt Kat Wilson, Contingent Commander at QE, comments: ‘It was an honour to be invited to the Lord Lieutenant’s annual dinner. The students were a credit to the College and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Mrs Snowdon and other guests. The College’s CCF continues to go from strength to strength and it’s fantastic to see our students make valuable links with the local community and other cadet forces. It was a wonderful evening’.
