Music Ensembles Spread Joy at Annual Leszynski Memorial Concert

Thirty students participated in the annual Leszynski Memorial Concert on Monday evening, in front of a large audience. Performances were made by the Orchestra, Big Band, Chamber Choir and Pop Choir, with a final performance of Karl Jenkins’ Adiemus involving members of all four ensembles.

Music teacher, Steve McGarvie said of the evening: “The students involved invested a lot of time and effort into preparing for the concert, showing dedication throughout the college year in order to produce a high-quality evening for a receptive audience. The concert is the final time our second-year students will perform with us before they move on to university or work. I am immensely proud of all their achievements.”

The students enjoyed the evening, as well as the rehearsals leading up to the performance. Amelie Nichols, flautist in the Orchestra and Big Band, commented: “I got the chance to show off my experience by playing an improvised solo, something I’ve never done before being in the Big Band. I was pushed to expand my musical knowledge and experience, meeting new people in the process and doing the thing I love.”

Drummer in the Big Band, Noah Stand said: “It gave me the experience to play with many talented musicians in an ensemble and I had the chance to perform in front of an audience.”
